Show 390, September 12, 2020: Food Journalist Al Mancini, Staff Writer, Las Vegas Review-Journal Part One

Al Mancini of the Las Vegas Review JournalOne of our most reliable sources of accurate restaurant news in fabulous Las Vegas is Al Mancini, who is a staff writer for The Las Vegas Review-Journal covering food, restaurants and other aspects of entertainment. Al has been working the Vegas food scene for 19 years. He was one of the creators of the popular, and widely referenced, Eating Las Vegas restaurant guidebook series.

Al joins us with his quarterly update report on the Las Vegas dining scene. First is a tribute to fondly remembered Rock ‘n Roll Chef Kerry Simon whose impact lives on in Las Vegas. There is a development this week on whether Vegas bars that serve food can reopen counter service that has created a lot of confusion for restaurateurs Al will also preview what’s of particular interest to him in some major restaurant openings on the horizon (including the future dining establishments in Virgin Hotels and Circa.)

Show 96, November 8, 2014: Brock Radke, Food Editor – Las Vegas Weekly

Brock Radke of Las Vegas WeeklyOur inside man in Las Vegas, Brock Radke, the greatly respected Food Editor of Las Vegas Weekly is back with us to bring us up-to-date on what new spots are worth spending your dining dollars on.

As always there are a lot of major new Fall restaurant openings in Las Vegas both on, and off, The Strip. On The Strip the chatter is about the new Border Grill in The Forum Shops at Caesars and Jose Andres’ restaurants at the SLS Las Vegas (Bazaar Meat by Jose Andres and Ku Noodle.). Off The Strip in Downtown Brock’s new favorite is rock and roll chef, Kerry Simon’s Carson Kitchen.

By the way the current issue of Las Vegas Weekly is “The dish Next Door. Our salute to the people and food that define local flavor.” Definitely worth a look.

I’m part of the Culinary Advisory Board for the upcoming Life is Beautiful Festival in Las Vegas from Saturday, October 27th to Sunday the 27th. But there’s also an amazing lineup of celebrity chefs as well! Not just me but pretty much everyone associated with the restaurant scene in America. As for as I’m concerned, the food is the main event and the music? That’s kind of dessert. Here’s the press release about the festival and I hope to see my Army in Vegas right before Halloween for this blowout of a party!
