The 6th Annual Tastemakers of Orange County celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the benefiting OCAPICA is set for Wednesday, Sept. 14th at 6 p.m. at the Argyros Plaza at Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa. “Tastemakers of Orange County is a culinary event celebrating Asian and Pacific Islander inspired cuisine created by distinguished chefs throughout Orange County. Solvang Danish Days is back this year, for its 85th celebration!

The event runs Friday through Sunday, September 16 to 18, in the Danish-rooted town of Solvang just 45 minutes north of Santa Barbara.

The three-day event weekend includes family-friendly entertainment and activities including fan-favorite food events all about Æbleskiver [ay·bluh·skee·vr], those famous Danish pastry rounds, including an Æbleskiver Eating Contest. Also, a Danish-style beer and wine garden serving local brews, wines and festival foods, an axe throwing arena, and story time sessions with Hans Christian Andersen. Overall admission to Danish Days is free, and the weekend features plentiful free entertainment with three parades, Danish folk dancers and musicians, and an afternoon and evening of live concerts in downtown Solvang. The 2nd Annual LA Chef Conference on May 20th in Santa Monica at ArcLight Cinemas and the Gourmandise School is part of the month-long Los Angeles Times Food Bowl. It features a veritable “who’s who” of notable culinary talent. The Conference is the main hospitality industry event of The Food Bowl featuring expert panels, restaurant business workshops and cooking demos. Our guests are Sherry Yard (iPic Entertainment’s Chief Operating Office) who is moderating an industry Panel and Chef Josiah Citrin (Openaire at The Line Hotel & Charcoal Venice) who is performing a cooking demonstration.

The Flavor of LA food and beverage festival returns for a third “Sunday Fun Day” on May 19th from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the historic CBS Studio Center lot in Studio City. The Festival benefits the North Hollywood High School Music Department. Original participating Chef Ted Hopson of The Bellwether joins us to dish up the scrumptious details.

Steve Dolinsky and Andreew GruelFood journalist Steve Dolinsky, ABC 7 TV’s “Hungry Hound” in Chicago, is the recipient of an impressive 13 James Beard Foundation Awards for journalistic excellence. The James Beard Foundation Awards Gala is in Chicago at the Lyric Opera on Monday evening, May 6th.

Steve will preview the 2019 James Beard Foundation Awards Gala and what it means to Chicago to again host such a prestigious event.

“In 2014, Chicago chef/restaurateur Rick Bayless and I launched The Feed Podcast, covering the world of food from our professional perspectives. Susan Feniger of Mud Hen TavernWe’re going to start referring to Celebrity Chef Susan Feniger as “The Festival Queen.” She is back with us previewing her events for the ongoing Los Angeles Times Food Bowl including “Plant Power – The No Beast Feast – An All-Star Chef Celebration of Vegetable Cuisine” on Saturday, May 19th (5:30 p.m. VIP / 6:30 p.m. GA) at Coral Tree Plaza at Border Grill Downtown LA.

For LA Times Food Bowl, Susan Feniger and Mary Sue Milliken will host Plant Power, the No Beast Feast, a garden party focusing on the region’s bountiful produce. On the upper plaza of Border Grill in downtown Los Angeles, guests will be treated to a variety of signature bites and an interactive dessert bar at this al fresco strolling event.

Featuring an international lineup of prominent chefs, this seasonal, vegetarian and vegan extravaganza will showcase innovative vegetable-driven cuisine paired with fine wines, beers and handcrafted cocktails from female winemakers, brewers and distillers.
